V.C.R.C
Solo Flight Program

To insure the safety of persons and property, all new members or novice flyers must fly with a qualified club member, to assist in case of difficulty.

To achieve solo flight status, the following flight demonstration must be performed twice. Any club officer or member with a solo rating may witness your check flights. He will then sign this form, showing that you have completed the check flight properly. After two successful check flights, you will receive a sticker to be affixed to your flightbox. This will signify solo flight status.

Caution: All maneuvers, except take-off, must be performed at the north end of the field. Under no circumstances will flying over the pits, Herb's House, and especially the houses to the east, be tolerated.

Remember: Practice all you want. However, you have only one check flight attempt per day. No exceptions! If you fail a check flight attempt two times in a row, all previous "passed" attempts are lost.

Flight Demonstration Pattern

  1. Take-off or hand launch to north or south, depending on wind direction.
  2. Do a procedure turn.
  3. Continue by flying straight down the runway to the north end of the field.
  4. Proceed with a Figure Eight (360 degree right turn first - then a 360 degree left turn.)
  5. Next, demonstrate a Traffic Pattern Approach, depending on the wind direction.
  6. Finally, complete your solo flight by landing on the runway. You must land on the runway to complete your flight successfully.

*** These maneuvers must be performed on two different dates. The solo flight program requires two different signatures. There is no stiplation that the applicant's primary instructor refrain from being one of the signatures.
